Not too shabby of a view today on my ruck! Listening to the two brilliant men @sealfit podcast with @davidgoggins in sub 30 weather but the sun was bright and I had a smile on my face. This entire week I had Mr. Goggin's 40% rule on replay in my brain. To get all my shit I had planned done this week: "40% 40% 40% 40%" It's literally the only way I got my feet on the stairmaster, wake up when I didn't want to, keep the crap out of my body that makes me sick or go outside in the cold to ruck a 20# plate around when I really wanted to stay nestled on my couch with my lab, flipping through social media sippin' warm coffee. Today was the last day left of the week to meet my goals tho and I needed to get 'er done. I miss Alaska, I miss Wyoming, Colorado, I miss the Sierras, I miss Peru, the Whites, the Grand Canyon, the ADKs, it all. I miss it all. But the strangest thing while I was in those mountains, I always felt weak & insecure. No confidence, my brain always spoke down to me no matter how hard I tried to lift myself up. I hated that my lungs were so weak at high altitude or that my hips crunched from carrying 60lbs of gear, I didn't hike as fast as the men or if I was with strangers, (that was the worst) I compared myself, talked my brain into believing how much better they were than me or how I held them back. People were always shocked when I would tell them what I did as a job, but I just smiled knowing the only thing I felt was inadequate. It's all about strength and courage, something I have searched the world for and never found. If I could just lick the wounds, foresee the future.
